Abstract
THROUGHOUT 1972, THE INTERDEPARTMENTAL COUNCIL TO COORDINATE ALL FEDERAL JUVENILE DELINQUENCY PROGRAMS MET TO WORK TOWARD THE OBJECTIVE OF COORDINATING THE FEDERAL EFFORT TO COMBAT JUVENILE DELINQUENCY AND YOUTHFUL CRIMINALITY. DURING THE SPRING OF 1972, 197 SEPARATE FEDERAL PROGRAMS RELATED TO JUVENILE DELINQUENCY WERE IDENTIFIED. TO MAKE THE COUNCIL'S UNIVERSE MORE MANAGEABLE, 31 PROGRAMS ONLY TANGENTIALLY RELATED TO DELINQUENCY WERE ELIMINATED FROM THE COUNCIL'S PRIMARY AREA OF INTEREST. FIVE PROGRAMS WERE DISCONTINUED IN FISCAL YEAR 1972. THIS REPORT COVERS THE REMAINING 161 PROGRAMS THAT WERE CONTINUED DURING FY-1972, INCLUDING 138 PROGRAMS WHICH WERE LISTED IN THE 1972 OFFICE OF MANAGEMENT AND BUDGET CATALOG OF FEDERAL DOMESTIC ASSISTANCE AND 23 PROGRAMS (NOT LISTED IN THE CATALOG) WHICH WERE NOT FEDERALLY ASSISTED BUT WHICH WERE FEDERALLY OPERATED. DESCRIPTIONS OF EACH PROGRAM HAVE BEEN EXCERPTED FROM THE OFFICE OF MANAGEMENT AND BUDGET CATALOG OF FEDERAL DOMESTIC ASSISTANCE, 1972 AND FROM WORK SHEETS DEVELOPED BY THE CENSUS BUREAU.
