THE RESULTS OF AN INVESTIGATION OF FOUR OF THE CURRENTLY AVAILABLE MOBILE/DIGITAL TWO-WAY POLICE COMMUNICATIONS/ INFORMATION SYSTEMS AND THEIR APPLICATIONS IN FLORIDA.
Abstract
THE FOUR SYSTEMS INVESTIGATED WERE THE KUSTOM ELECTRONICS RADCOM-1 SYSTEM, THE IBM 2976 MOBILE TERMINAL SYSTEM, THE MOTOROLA MODAT ALPHANUMERIC TERMINAL SYSTEM AND THE ATLANTIC RESEARCH CORPORATION ARCOM SYSTEM. THE FIRST SECTION IS A FUNCTIONAL AND DESIGN ANALYSIS OF MOBILE/ DIGITAL COMMUNICATIONS SYSTEMS. THE NEXT PART PRESENTS OVERVIEWS, COST DATA, AND THE EVALUATOR'S ANALYSIS OF THE SYSTEMS. THE THIRD SECTION DEFINES DESIGN CONSTRAINTS AND SYSTEM STRUCTURES WHICH ARE REQUIRED BY THE NATURE OF CRIMINAL JUSTICE INFORMATION SYSTEMS AND LAW ENFORCEMENT COMMUNICATIONS SYSTEMS IN FLORIDA. THE FINAL SECTION PRESENTS GUIDELINES FOR MOBILE/DIGITAL COMMUNICATIONS SYSTEM PROCUREMENT IN FLORIDA AND CONTAINS A PERFORMANCE SPECIFICATION FOR MOBILE/DIGITAL COMMUNICATION TERMINALS.
