The Illinois Criminal Justice Information Authority's 1985-1986 audit of the Computerized Criminal History (CCH) system examined missing disposition data and assessed whether this serious problem may be caused by CCH computer system deficiencies or local agencies' reporting problems.
Abstract
The audit found that the current CCH system is not equipped to handle the variety of disposition outcomes encountered in routine criminal justice processing. For example, the system does not allow for the entry of criminal history information relating to more than eight charges. The audit uncovered policy decisions on reports that compromised the CCH's utility. While arrest information was posted to the CCH in a timely manner, problems in processing disposition data were found and a considerable portion of reports missing. Tables and forms.
