During 1990, 74 male and female inmates escaped from correctional institutions and camps in California, for a rate of 0.08 percent per 100 average daily population.
Abstract
This rate was the lowest in the history of the California Department of Corrections. In addition, 1,122 escapes occurred from community-based facilities, for a rate of 4.8 percent for the population at risk and a decline from 7.7 percent in 1989. Male escapes had a rate of 0.03 percent for institutions and 1.16 percent for the camps. The number of women who escaped decreased from 5 in 1990 to 2 in 1991.
