This report from the United Nations’ Asia and Far East Institute for the Prevention of Crime and the Treatment of Offenders (UNAFEI) presented comprehensive information on UNAFEI activities and the work programs for 1998 and works produced at two UNAFEI international training programs during 1998 and 1999.
Abstract
This report presented by the Asia and Far East Institute for the Prevention of Crime and the Treatment of Offenders (UNAFEI) consists of two parts. In Part I, the main activities and work program for 1999 of UNAFEI are reviewed. Activities included: (1) role and mandate; (2) training; (3) computer crime; (4) technical cooperation; (5) comparative research project; (6) information and documentation services; (7) publications; (8) International Penal and Penitentiary Foundation; (9) human resources; and (10) finances. The UNAFEI work program contained information on training, special seminar for senior criminal justice officials of the People’s Republic of China, and technical cooperation. Part II of the report presented papers from the 110th International Training Course in 1998 on “Effective Countermeasures Against Economic Crime and Computer Crime” and the 111th International Seminar in 1999 on “The Role of Police, Prosecution, and the Judiciary in the Changing Society.” The papers were contributions from visiting experts, selected country specific participant reports, and reports of the course or seminar.
