This report describes Kansas's programs and activities from July 1993 through June 1994 to address the problem of drug abuse.
Abstract
During the year Kansas continued a multifaceted approach to drug abuse by providing funding for prevention, interdiction, prosecution, and treatment. The State funded eight Bureau of Justice Assistance program areas. These included demand reduction education programs in which law enforcement personnel participated, multijurisdictional task force programs, programs to target domestic sources of controlled and illegal drugs, and community and neighborhood programs that assist citizens in preventing and controlling crime. Other areas included efforts to improve the operational effectiveness of law enforcement; efforts to improve the operational effectiveness of the court process; drug abuse diagnosis and treatment programs for adult and juvenile offenders; and innovative programs related to the enforcement, prosecution, and adjudication of drug law offenses and other serious crimes.
