The 1996-1997 annual report of the Maryland court system provides data on the operations and functions of Maryland courts.
Abstract
Statistical information on both individual courts and the overall court system is tabulated to provide a source of information about Maryland's court structure and operations. The report outlines duties, responsibilities, and accomplishments of Maryland's judicial branch to demonstrate how judges and other court personnel handle court caseloads. The report is organized according to seven principal sections: (1) judicial revenues and expenditures; (2) judicial system--judicial circuits and districts, court of appeals, court of special appeals, circuit courts, district court, and orphans' court; (3) judicial administration--information systems, court management services, fiscal management and procurement, and judicial assignments; (4) court-related units--Board of Law Examiners, Rules Committee, Maryland State Law Library, Attorney Grievance Commission, and Clients' Security Trust Fund; (5) judicial conferences--Maryland Judicial Conference, Americans With Disabilities Act (ADA), Conference of Circuit Judges, and Administrative Judges Committee of the District Court; (6) appointment, discipline, and removal of judges; and (7) legislation that affects the operation of Maryland courts. A list of ADA coordinators is appended. Tables and figures
