This report presents descriptions and statistics on the caseloads, expenditures, and operations of the Tennessee State court system during 1995.
Abstract
A 1993 legislative resolution has resulted in uniform statistical reporting for judicial caseloads. The increasing use of technology is helping the State achieve a modern, responsive, and efficient judicial system. Many judges have small laptop computers, appellate court judges can share information and review opinions using electronic mail, and a statewide system is being implemented to automate the collection of caseload data and provide current information about civil and criminal cases. Other activities during the year included the implementation of the Tennessee Court Improvement Project, a courthouse security survey, the abolition of the Tennessee Sentencing Commission, and the establishment of the Judicial Performance and Evaluation Program. Photographs, figures, and appended glossary and tables
