This report presents statistical descriptions of persons admitted to correctional programs in Hong Kong during 1991.
Abstract
The report is divided into four sections. The first section provides an overall view of socioeconomic and criminal characteristics of sentenced persons, while the second section summarizes key statistics on sentenced persons by correctional program type. The third and fourth sections present detailed statistics on drug-dependent persons and comparative inmate statistics for 1990 and 1991. The data show that 13,678 persons were sentenced to correctional institutions administered by the Hong Kong Correctional Services Department during 1991. They served their sentences in one of four correctional programs: prisons, drug addiction treatment centers, training centers, or a detention center. 43 tables
