Research requested by institutions and individuals in Ohio and performed by the Statistical Analysis Center, Division of Criminal Justice Services (DCJS), is analyzed.
Abstract
In 1982, 346 requests were received, up from 308 in 1981. Colleges and universities accounted for 19 percent of the requests, the news media for 5 percent, public agencies for 40 percent, businesses for 4 percent, the DCJS for 12 percent, State-elected officials for 3 percent, private nonprofit groups for 5 percent, private citizens for 2 percent, and out-of-State requests for 10 percent. Finally, the following types of research were requested: miscellaneous, 29 percent; background information, 16 percent; law enforcement, 27 percent; juvenile justice, 3 percent; general reference, 4 percent; employment and expenditures, 2 percent; public attitudes, 8 percent; crime and victimization, 7 percent; courts, 3 percent; and corrections, 6 percent. Five figures are included.
