STATISTICAL AND NARRATIVE DATA ARE PRESENTED IN THIS 1977 ANNUAL REPORT ON THE ORGANIZATION AND ADMINISTRATION OF THE POLICE FORCE IN ANTIGUA.
Abstract
THE REPORT IS NINE PARTS. THE FIRST PART CONTAINS A GENERAL SURVEY OF THE YEAR, FOCUSING ON COMMAND AND PERSONNEL, FUNCTIONS OF THE POLICE FORCE, TELECOMMUNICATIONS, RECRUITMENT, MAJOR DISASTERS, CRIMES, TRAFFIC, APPOINTMENTS, THE POLICE SERVICE COMMISSION, HONORS AND AWARDS, FACILITIES, AND COSTS OF OPERATING THE POLICE FORCE AND FIRE SERVICES. THE SECOND PART IS CONCERNED WITH THE ORGANIZATION AND ADMINISTRATION OF THE POLICE FORCE. THE THIRD PART CONSIDERS RECRUIT SELECTION AND TRAINING. CRIMINAL INVESTIGATION IS DEALT WITH IN THE FOURTH PART, AND ATTENTION IS GIVEN TO CRIMES AND CRIME PREVENTION, FINGERPRINT AND PHOTOGRAPHY PROCEDURES, SCIENTIFIC AIDS, DANGEROUS DRUGS, JUVENILES, SMUGGLING, SUDDEN DEATHS, AND THE COURT PROCESS. THE REMAINING FIVE PARTS PERTAIN TO TRAFFIC (ACCIDENTS, TRAFFIC OFFENSES, DRIVER TESTING, AND COURT FINES), WELFARE AND RECREATION, SPECIALIZED BRANCHES OF THE POLICE FORCE, THE FIRE BRIGADE, AND BENEFITS AFFORDED TO POLICE OFFICERS.
