DESCRIPTION OF A SMALL, LOW-PRICED TWO-WAY MOBILE DIGITAL COMMUNICATION TERMINAL WHICH CAN SUPPLEMENT POLICE VOICE COMMUNICATION.
Abstract
THE SYSTEM CAN OPERATE ON EXISTING POLICE RADIO FREQUENCIES TO SEND AND RECEIVE CODED MESSAGES WHICH DO NOT INTERFERE WITH ON-GOING VOICE COMMUNICATION. THE NEW SYSTEM HAS A TERMINAL WEIGHING FOUR POUNDS. IT OPERATES WITH REDUNDANT MESSAGE TRANSMISSION AS A SAFEGUARD AGAINST DATA TRANSMISSION ERRORS. THE UNIT CAN BE USED FOR INQUIRY/RESPONSE FROM COMPUTERIZED DATA FILES, VEHICLE STATUS REPORTING, MULTI-MODE MESSAGES, DISPATCHING, AND EMERGENCY ALERTS.
