This 1992-93 Annual Report of the Arizona Department of Public Safety (DPS) summarizes what each bureau of the Department achieved in this fiscal year and provides statistical charts and tables pertinent to these operations.
Abstract
Established in 1969, the DPS consolidated the functions and responsibilities of the Arizona Highway Patrol, the Enforcement Division of the Department of Liquor Licenses and Control, and the Narcotics Division of the Arizona Department of Law. The current DPS is a multifaceted organization. Foremost, it remains a State law enforcement agency that works in partnership with other agencies to protect the public. Simultaneously, DPS is a service organization that provides a broad range of scientific, technical, operational, and regulatory services to Arizona's citizens and the criminal justice community. In fiscal year 1992-93, the DPS was authorized by the legislature to employ 1,617 full-time employees and was reorganized into three bureaus: Criminal Investigation, Highway Patrol, and Service. For each of these bureaus and the Office of the Director, this annual report provides an organizational chart and overview, highlights of the year's achievements, and statistical charts and tables.
