Abstract
This State law enforcement agency works in close cooperation with other agencies and also provides a broad range of scientific, technical, operational, and regulatory services to Arizona's citizens and the criminal justice system. In fiscal year 1991-92, the agency was authorized to employ 1,617 full-time employees in five bureaus: Criminal Investigation, Highway Patrol, Administration, Criminal Justice Support, and Telecommunications. The Department has offices in more than 30 communities and conducts operations in all 15 counties in the State. On an average day, patrol officers removed 18 drunk drivers from the road, placed 20 unsafe commercial vehicles out of service, investigated 40 traffic accidents, aided 302 motorists with disabled vehicles, and issued 544 citations. They also pursued drug law enforcement; intercepted fleeing felons; and addressed fraud, money laundering, and auto theft. Tables, figures, and photographs
