The Arizona Uniform Crime Report 1989 provides data regarding the nature and extent of crime throughout the State.
Abstract
There were 284,900 Crime Index Offenses reported in 1989, with the crime rate at 7,794.8 crimes per 100,000 population. August recorded the highest incidence of offenses with 25,882 reported while February recorded the lowest incidence of offenses with 22,193 reported. A total of 60,302 persons were arrested for index offenses with a clearance rate of 22.1 percent. Violent crimes accounted for 7.3 percent of the total crime index with aggravated assault accounting for the largest incidence and homicide the smallest. The value of property stolen in 1989 amounted to $267,626,678 with a recovery rate of 39.1 percent. Property crimes accounted for 92.7 percent of the total Crime Index. Larceny-theft accounted for the largest incidence of property crimes while arson accounted for the smallest. Of the total arrests, males accounted for 80.8 percent, and females accounted for 19.2 percent. Adult arrests were 187,319, and juvenile arrests were 45,956. Glossary.
