Data on juvenile arrests in Wisconsin during the period between 1982 and 1991 are summarized. During those 10 years, there was an average of 91,110 juvenile arrests per year; in 1991, juvenile arrests accounted for 27 percent of all arrests made in the State.
Abstract
Unlike adult arrests, which have increased steadily each year, the number of juvenile arrests has increased only since 1987. The statistics represent index crime arrest trends in terms of index arrest rates, geographic distribution of index offense arrest rates, and index crime arrests versus all other arrests. The distribution of 1991 juvenile arrests is shown for four types of crime: violent index offenses, property index offenses, status offenses, and all other offenses. Over 90 percent of juvenile arrests for index offenses were for property crimes. Juvenile arrests in Milwaukee County are graphed separately, while juvenile arrest data for selected counties are also tabulated. 10 figures and 3 tables
