Significant accomplishments and relevant data concerning the Australian Capital Territory (ACT) Police for the year ended June 30, 1979, are presented.
Abstract
Personnel and administrative matters of the force are discussed, including recruitment, inservice training, retirements, awards, and promotions. Criminal offenses for the period are examined, and increases in offenses against persons and property, malicious damage, and fraud are noted. Data on drug offenses, motor vehicle offenses, juvenile crime, and notorious criminal acts are mentioned. General policing functions are detailed, including those of the city division, water police, and the unit beat police. Activities of the traffic division, and specialist and support services (legal division, juvenile aid bureau, and crime intelligence unit) are noted. Graphic and tabular data, a summary of the history of the ACT Police Force, and an index are appended.
