The Australian Institute of Criminology, which began operating in 1973, is funded by the Commonwealth and engages in research, training, and related activities at the government level. The year in review focuses on management plans and changes, staff development, computerization, and the activities of various Institute projects. A report on the Institute's international relations describes work with the United Nations, regional participation, and liaisons with various criminal justice organizations in North America and Europe. A report on research and statistics covers crime prevention, aboriginals and crime prevention, crime and criminal justice statistics, policing and public security, courts and sentencing, corrections, drugs, and corporate and white-collar crime.
