This report presents copies of the first 100 statistical bulletins, 'Australian Prison Trends,' which have been published monthly since May 1976.
Abstract
Data are presented on numbers of male and female inmates, numbers of unconvicted inmates on remand for the first day of each month, numbers of Northern Territory prisoners who were serving sentences in other jurisdictions, and on prisoners in work release programs and in attendance centers. Improvements made in the data collection effort over the years are reported, and consequences of the monthly publication of 'Australian Prison Trends,' including the development of annual censuses of prisoners, are highlighted. Approximately 200 tables and 1 graph portray the data.
