THE POSSIBLE RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN POLICE AUTHORITARIANISM AND SEVERAL CHARACTERISTICS OF THE POLICE AS A GROUP IS INVESTIGATED.
Abstract
THE AUTHOR DISCUSSES SUCH CHARACTERISTICS AS AGE, SEX, RELIGION, PHYSIQUE, INTELLIGENCE AND EDUCATION, MOTIVATION FOR BECOMING A POLICE OFFICER, AND SOCIAL CLASS. IT IS CONCLUDED THAT MOST OF THE CHARACTERISTICS OF THE POLICE DO NOT HAVE A DIRECT RELATION TO AUTHORITARIANISM, AND THAT POLICE AS A WHOLE VIEW AUTHORITY AND FORCE CONNECTED WITH POLICE WORK AS A NECESSARY, THOUGH LESS ATTRACTIVE ASPECT OF THE POLICE JOB.
