This chapter explains autopsy law and procedures for post mortem external inspection and internal examination and delineates various special autopsy techniques.
Abstract
Specifically discussed are the exhumation autopsy, examples of special autopsy tests, and artefactual changes or injuries. The forensic autopsy report is analyzed in detail regarding the reporting of elements of the forensic autopsy and its scope, and explaining the cause and manner of death. Also mentioned are the forensic expert's writing of the medicolegal report and his review of other experts' reports. Appended are examples of autopsy reports, a procedure guide, and a listing of final pathological diagnoses from a toxicology examination.
