This research examines the impact of bail verification and supervision projects in Ontario, Canada, on the total remand population and on the participating inmates.
Abstract
Supervision clients are in great need of some form of community support. Although comparison data are lacking, the extent of client noncompliance with release conditions is sufficient to warrant concern. Those institutions with bail projects averaged 59.5-percent remanded inmates compared to 35 percent for institutions without bail projects. Graphs and tables illustrate additional findings.
