This document presents the curriculum guidelines, developed by California law enforcement trainers and criminal justice educators in cooperation with the California Commission on Peace Officer Standards and Training, for use in training police officers in search and seizure law and procedures.
Abstract
Individual sections present information regarding definitions of the terms used and the conditions under which a search can be made. Additional sections focus on the use of force to prevent the swallowing of evidence, the conditions under which vomiting can legally be induced, and the procedures to be used to obtain blood samples. Further sections present the principles of extracting fingerprint evidence, the principles of collecting handwriting samples, and procedures for conducting field showups.
