This manual presents the objectives, content outline, learning activities, exercises, and supporting materials for a curriculum designed to train law enforcement personnel in California in gang awareness.
Abstract
Topics include the indicators of gang membership, the signs that a crime is gang-related, the interpretation of gang communications, gang culture and dynamics, and local and regional gang activities. Signs of gang membership include admission of gang membership or association, observed activity, specific tattoos or clothing, photographs with known gang members, name on a gang document or gang- related graffiti, arrested in the company of gang members, corresponds with gang members, and attends gang functions.
