This instructor's guide to a course on weapons violations was prepared by the California Commission on Peace Officer Standards and Training as part of its performance objective-based approach to law enforcement basic training.
Abstract
Curriculum content is specified for performance objectives related to drawing or exhibiting a firearm, shooting at an inhabited dwelling, possession of a switchblade knife, possession of a deadly weapon, and possession of a firearm by a felon. Performance objectives are also listed in curriculum segments on carrying a concealed weapon, carrying a loaded firearm, altering identification marks on a firearm, possession of tear gas, weapons on school grounds, exceptions to possession of a concealed firearm, possession of a deadly weapon with the intent to assault, and unsafe storage of firearms. Each segment identifies relevant sections of California's Penal Code and provides information on elements of the particular crime.
