FILM WHICH DEFINES AND ILLUSTRATES THE MEANINGS AND FUNCTIONS OF FAMILIAR LEGAL WORDS AND PHRASES.
Abstract
ACTOR JOSEPH CAMPANELLA NARRATES THIS FILM WHICH CONTENDS THAT ALL CITIZENS SHOULD UNDERSTAND THE LAWS IN ORDER TO BENEFIT FROM THE PROTECTIONS THEY AFFORD. THE TWO MAJOR DIVISIONS OF LAW, CRIMINAL AND CIVIL, ARE DEFINED IN CLEAR AND SIMPLE TERMS. CRIMINAL LAW DEALS WITH PUBLIC WRONGS WHILE CIVIL LAW COVERS PRIVATE WRONGS. THE DIFFERENT TYPES OF CIVIL LAW, INCLUDING TORTS, ASSAULT, BATTERY, TRESPASSING, AND DEFAMATION OF CHARACTER ARE DISCUSSED INDIVIDUALLY AND ILLUSTRATED WITH DRAMATIZED SITUATIONS AND SIMULATED COURTROOM SCENES. ALSO POINTED OUT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN AN EXPRESSION OF INTENT AND A CONTRACT.
