This slide and tape program for older persons presents suggestions for protecting the home from burglary.
Abstract
In a dramatization, two youthful burglars roam a neighborhood in search of a house to burglarize. Finally, they locate a house with mail in the box and the back door unlocked. The narrator and a police woman advise the audience to lock all windows when they are away from home, to secure all doors, store or mark all valuables, keep mail and papers from piling up, and keep the home looking occupied. In addition, they should not advertise their absence, should have a security survey made of the house, and should work with neighbors and law enforcement officers to stop crime. Included with the program are a list of equipment needed for a presentation, tips on the operation of a 35mm slide projector, a sample news release, a discussion guide for the program moderator, and a typed script of the taped narration.
