Abstract
THE AUTHOR IS CRITICAL OF SUCH REINFORCEMENT-TYPE CONTINGENCY MANAGEMENT SYSTEMS AS THEY ARE APPLIED IN CORRECTIONAL INSTITUTIONS, PRIVATE INDUSTRY AND THE ARMY BECAUSE THEY SERVE MAINLY TO MAKE PEOPLE MORE PASSIVE AND ACCEPTING OF THE STATUS QUO OF SOCIETAL STRUCTURE, AUTHORITY AND STRATIFICATION. HE FAVORS EDUCATING PEOPLE IN THE PRINCIPLES AND TECHNIQUES OF BEHAVIOR MODIFICATION SO THAT THEY MAY APPLY THEM TO THEIR INDIVIDUAL GOALS AND OBJECTIVES AND PERHAPS, COLLECTIVELY, TO THE DEVELOPMENT OF AN 'EGALITARIAN COOPERATIVE SOCIETY'.
