This article describes a behavior recognition software program called Perceptrak.
Abstract
Perceptrak an intelligent video management system developed by Cernium Inc., works with CCTV cameras to monitor, detect, report, and record people, vehicles, and objects. The program works by monitoring a site in real-time and sounding an alarm based on predetermined safety and security events. Benefits of the intelligent video management system include: (1) the elimination of human error and fatigue; (2) its ability to be customized to meet the needs of specific applications; (3) its recording, storage, and playback capabilities aid in forensic investigations; and (4) it is a self-diagnostic system that alerts operators when it is not working properly. Perceptrak has been used to monitor public places to reduce public nuisance crimes and has been used to enhance surveillance in correctional facilities, airports, government facilities, hospitals, corporations, and educational and cultural institutions. Recently, Cernium Inc. developed a new technology that enables computers to process images more efficiently and accurately. Improvements in intelligent video management systems are expected to change the way we conduct surveillance. Exhibits
