Abstract
THE MOST EFFECTIVE CLINICAL CONDITIONS FOR THE APPLICATION OF POSITIVE REINFORCEMENT, NEGATIVE REINFORCEMENT, THE WITHDRAWAL OF POSITIVE REINFORCEMENT, THE AVOIDANCE OF NEGATIVE REINFORCEMENT, THE INTRODUCTION OF NEW BEHAVIOR, AND THE FADING OR PHASING OUT OF TREATMENT ARE DISCUSSED. THESE PROCEDURES ARE COMPARED TO THE ACTUAL FUNCTIONING OF THE CRIMINAL JUSTICE SYSTEM IN THE AREAS OF SENTENCING, IMPRISONMENT, FINES, AND BONDS WITH OR WITHOUT SUSPENDED SENTENCES.
