REVIEW OF THE VARIOUS TYPES OF GIRLS THAT ARE USUALLY REFERRED TO AS UNGOVERNABLE, UNMANAGEABLE, INCORRIGIBLE, OR PREDELINQUENT, AND CONSIDERATION OF THEIR TREATMENT.
Abstract
PRINCIPLE AREAS OF BEYOND CONTROL BEHAVIOR AMONG GIRLS INCLUDE TROUBLE WITH THE SCHOOL, UNWED PREGNANCY, SEX DELINQUENCY, RUNAWAY BEHAVIOR, AND FAILURE TO RESPOND TO PARENTAL ATTEMPTS AT DISCIPLINE. THE AUTHORS SEE BEYOND CONTROL BEHAVIOR AS A SERIOUS MATTER, WHICH INCLUDES MANY DEEP-SEATED PROBLEMS AS WELL AS VIOLATIONS OF THE LAW AND REQUIRES NOT ONLY COURT ACTION, BUT AT TIMES DIVERSION TO OTHER SUPPORT SERVICES. IT IS FELT THAT MAJOR IMPROVEMENT IN THESE SERVICES IS NEEDED IF THEY ARE TO HANDLE SERIOUS UNMANAGEABILITY WHICH HAS PREVIOUSLY BEEN REFERRED TO THE COURT.
