This selective bibliography on capital punishment in the United States and in Florida focuses on four areas: historical background, issues in applying the death penalty, legal considerations, and moral issues.
Abstract
The section listing historical materials covers England, America, and Florida, as well as international surveys. Among the issues addressed in the applications section are racism, deterrence, clemency, death row confinement, geographical disparity, methods of execution, psychological testimony, and execution of minors. Key cases of interest to general readers are cited, both for the United States and Florida. Cases are arranged by legal issue, such as application and review of aggravating and mitigating circumstances. The final section lists publications arguing for and against capital punishment on moral and religious grounds.
