This CD-ROM presents information on financial crimes in order to aid law enforcement investigations.
Abstract
Developed through a partnership between the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) and the National White Collar Crime Center (NW3C), the CD-ROM contains eight segments, each on a different and growing financial crime: money laundering, identity theft, securities fraud, Internet fraud, health care fraud, insurance crime, telemarketing fraud, and gambling. For each type of crime, background information is provided that educates the viewer about the forms the crimes can take and how they are generally accomplished and concealed. Links to Web sites are presented for each segment in order to augment the information provided. Although the goal of the CD-ROM presentation is to educate law enforcement investigators, direct investigation training is not offered. The inclusion of training related information and resources is planned for a future version of this CD-ROM. Downloadable documents available in PDF format on this CD-ROM include the 2002 Money Laundering Strategy, the USA PATRIOT Act presentation, the USA PATRIOT Act Review, the Bank Secrecy Act, and Internet Gambling. Extensive resource lists are also available.
