A CHRONOLOGICAL DESCRIPTION OF MINNESOTA'S CRIMINAL JUSTICE REPORTING SYSTEM (CJRS), EXAMINING ITS PAST BACKGROUND, PRESENT OPERATIONS, AND FUTURE EXPECTATIONS.
Abstract
THE CJRS PROGRAM IS UNIQUE BECAUSE IT WAS DEVELOPED TO PRODUCE TWO FUNCTIONS. THE FIRST FUNCTION INVOLVES AN OFFENDER BASED TRACKING SYSTEM THAT ENABLES THE MEASUREMENT OF THE PROCESSING OF SPECIFIC OFFENDERS AS THEY PROCEED THROUGH THE STATE'S CRIMINAL JUSTICE SYSTEM. SECONDLY, THE CJRS PROVIDES A REVISED AND SOPHISTICATED MEANS OF OBTAINING STATISTICAL CRIME DATA FOR USE IN THE STATE AND FEDERAL UNIFORM CRIME REPORTING PROGRAMS. WHAT MAKES THE CJRS OF MINNESOTA UNIQUE IS THE COMPUTERIZED METHOD OF RETRIEVING, PROCESSING AND DISSEMINATING THIS INFORMATION. (AUTHOR ABSTRACT)
