REPORT OF A RECORDS MANAGEMENT STUDY THAT WAS DONE FOR TWO TEXAS DISTRICT COURTS TO ADVISE THEM OF THE PLANNING AND EQUIPMENT NECESSARY TO DEVELOP A MICROFILMING SYSTEM TO ALLEVIATE STORAGE PROBLEMS.
Abstract
METHODOLOGY INVOLVED IN THE ACCOMPLISHMENT OF PROJECT GOALS INCLUDED AN INTERVIEW TO OBTAIN AN OVERVIEW OF THE TEXAS COURT SYSTEM; A STATE LEVEL PERSPECTIVE ON COURT RECORD MANAGEMENT; AND AN ONSITE ANALYSIS OF THE INDEXING, DOCKETING, AND FILING SYSTEMS IN THE TWO DISTRICT CLERK OFFICES. THE CONSULTANT INVOLVED IN THE STUDY ALSO REVIEWED RELEVANT LEGISLATION AND MICROFILM VENDOR PROPOSALS IN ORDER TO ARRIVE AT VALID CONCLUSIONS. THE CONSULTANT CONCLUDED THAT MICROFILMING IS A NECESSITY FOR THE DISTRICT CLERKS OF WEBB AND BOWIE, COUNTIES AND THAT THE MICROFILMING WOULD PROBABLY BE CONFINED TO HISTORICAL RECORDS. RECOMMENDATIONS WERE ALSO MADE FOR THE PURCHASE OF SPECIFIC TYPES OF EQUIPMENT. (AUTHOR ABSTRACT)...KAP
