Abstract
The court cases are presented under various topics or police procedures. Four sections address probable cause, the exclusionary rule, stop and frisk, and arrest. Six sections pertain to searches and seizures: seizures in general, searches in general, searches incident to arrest, consent searches, vehicle searches, and plain view and open fields searches. Other sections focus on electronic surveillance, lineups and other pretrial identification procedures, use of force, confessions and admissions (cases affirming "Miranda"), confessions and admissions (cases not affirming "Miranda"), interrogation, right to counsel, entrapment, civil forfeiture, employee drug testing, and legal liabilities. An introductory section presents each of the cases in the main body of the book with a brief statement of the court's finding. The format of information for each case presented in the main body of the book consists of the facts of the case, the issue, the relevant Supreme Court decision, the reason underlying the ruling, case significance, and a list of related cases.
