PURPOSE OF THIS REPORT IS TO UPDATE THE STATISTICAL FACTORS USED IN EVALUATING THE PERFORMANCE OF THE MAJOR OFFENSE BUREAU FROM ITS INCEPTION TO THE PRESENT TIME.
Abstract
THE OPERATIONAL PERFORMANCE IS STATISTICALLY ANALYZED WITH RESPECT TO CASELOAD, DISPOSITION OF DEFENDANTS BY CLASSIFICATION, TRIALS, AND SENTENCES. THE MINIMUM AND MAXIMUM SENTENCE IMPOSED ON EVERY DEFENDANT PROSECUTED BY THE MAJOR OFFENSE BUREAU IS LISTED. THE OVERALL PERFORMANCE IS COMPARED WITH A CONTROL GROUP OF NORMALLY PROCESSED DEFENDANTS. THOSE DEFENDANTS PROSECUTED BY THE MAJOR OFFENSE BUREAU WERE SENTENCED TO PRISON MORE FREQUENTLY, RECEIVED LONGER MINIMUM AND MAXIMUM SENTENCES AND WERE PROCESSED MORE SWIFTLY THAN THE CONTROL GROUP....MSP
