Abstract
The Bureau of Justice Statistics (BJS) is the statistical arm of the U.S. Department of Justice. In 2004, BJS produced and made available, via CD-ROM, the BJS publications collection, as of December 31, 2003. This CD-ROM contains all of the BJS publications that are available electronically and published before the above specified date. Publications are found alphabetically, by topic, or in chronological order and abstracts for each document are available in HTML. The documents are presented in Portable Document Format (PDF) and/or text and PDF files are full electronic renderings of published documents including the text, page, layout and graphics that can be viewed and printed on any platform. For many of the reports, all the spreadsheets are maintained in a zip archive that must be expanded for use. The publications provide statistics in the areas of crime and victims, criminal offenders, law enforcement, courts and sentencing, corrections, prosecution, Federal justice system, expenditure and employment, criminal record systems, and special topics, such as drugs and crime, homicide trends, firearms and crime, reentry trends, and international statistics. Found within each statistical area represented is a summary of findings, BJS publications listing, and selected statistics.
