A security firm, Mosler Security, tests the effectiveness of the 'burning bar,' a tool often used by the underworld to penetrate bank vault doors, and suggests specific security equipment to protect banks against this tool.
Abstract
The burning bar burns with intense heat. It can burn through most known materials, including concrete. In this test, the total time required for entry into the vault with a burning bar was over 6 hours. Vault construction using steel needs Mosler security equipment to protect vault contents. An audio-based alarm system produced by Mosler should provide enough protection against the burning bar. Redundant alarm systems with audio alarms give even more protection.
