This text presents the results of the first victimization survey of approximately 1,250 businesses in The Netherlands in 1988.
Abstract
The survey achieved a 48-percent response rate regarding internal or employee-generated and external or non-employee- generated crime. Businesses were asked how many crimes had been perpetrated against them, the costs of these crimes, what prevention measures they were taking against crime and the costs, and expected chance of being affected by crime. Results indicate that in 1988, 42 percent of Dutch businesses were victimized by external crime; only 11 percent were affected by internal crime. Data is presented by type of crime and type of business. 60 references and numerous figures
