Abstract
IN A LABORATORY SETTING, THE GENDER OF PARTICIPANTS WAS RELATED TO THE LIKELIHOOD OF WITNESSES EITHER REPORTING A PETTY CRIME OF CORROBORATING IT IN WRITING. THE AUTHORS CONCLUDE THAT THE RESULTS MAY HAVE SOME IMPLICATIONS FOR SITUATIONS IN WHICH PERSONNEL BECOME AWARE OF MINOR PILFERING BY THEIR CO-WORKERS AND STRESS THAT EMPLOYERS BE AWARE OF THE POSSIBLE IMPACT OF THE SEX OF THE IMMEDIATE AUTHORITY FIGURE ON MONITORING SYSTEMS.
