NARRATIVE REPORT ON THE ACTIVITIES OF THE CALIFORNIA AGENCY RESPONSIBLE FOR COLLECTING, ANALYZING, AND REPORTING UNIFORM DATA ON THE OPERATIONS OF CRIMINAL JUSTICE AGENCIES THROUGHOUT THE STATE.
Abstract
THE CDS (COMPREHENSIVE DATA SYSTEM) IS MADE UP OF FIVE FEDERALLY FUNDED COMPONENTS - STATISTICAL ANALYSIS CENTER, UNIFORM CRIME REPORTS, MANAGEMENT AND ADMINISTRATIVE STATISTICS, TECHNICAL ASSISTANCE, AND OFFENDER-BASED TRANSACTION STATISTICS. A SIXTH COMPONENT, FUNDED BY THE STATE, DEVELOPS DATA ON THE JUVENILE JUSTICE SYSTEM AND ADULT PROBATION. THE TASKS OF EACH OF THE CDS COMPONENTS ARE OUTLINED, AND STATE LAW ESTABLISHING THE BUREAU OF CRIMINAL STATISTICS AND DEFINING ITS AUTHORITY IS PRESENTED....EB
