DESCRIPTION OF SYSTEM DESIGN AND IMPLEMENTATION PLAN, ANALYSIS OF BENEFITS TO BE DERIVED FROM ITS OPERATION, AND RECOMMENDATIONS FOR IMMEDIATE AND LONG-TERM ACTIONS.
Abstract
THE CRIMINAL JUSTICE INFORMATION SYSTEM WHICH IS DESCRIBED IN THIS REPORT IS CONCERNED PRIMARILY WITH THE IDENTIFICATION AND ORDERING OF INFORMATION FLOWS BETWEEN CRIMINAL JUSTICE AGENCIES, TO ASSIST THEM IN FULFILLING THEIR RESPONSIBILITIES. THE SYSTEM WILL SERVE AS A CENTRAL RECORD REPOSITORY AND INFORMATION CENTER FOR CRIMINAL JUSTICE AGENCIES THROUGHOUT CALIFORNIA. THE VARIOUS CONTENTS OF THE SYSTEM ARE DESCRIBED ALONG WITH THE INPUT AND OUTPUT FUNCTIONAL CAPABILITIES. THE IMPLEMENTATION PLAN IS OUTLINED AND A COST-BENEFIT ANALYSIS IS PROVIDED. RECOMMENDATIONS ARE MADE FOR ADDITIONAL DESIGN EFFORTS AND RESEARCH PROJECTS. THE REPORT CONCLUDES WITH A CHECKLIST OF INITIATING ACTIONS TO IMPLEMENT THE PROPOSED SYSTEM WITHIN THE CALIFORNIA DEPARTMENT OF JUSTICE.
