Abstract
THIS PROFILE OF CALIFORNIA'S CRIMINAL JUSTICE SYSTEM CONSISTS OF TWO SECTIONS. THE FIRST SECTION CONTAINS TABLES SUMMARIZING ANNUAL CRIMINAL JUSTICE DATA BY MAJOR CATEGORY FOR THE YEARS 1968-1977. IT COVERS INCIDENCES AND ARRESTS FOR EACH MAJOR CRIME CATEGORY, ADULT FELONY AND MISDEMEANOR ARRESTS, JUVENILE ARRESTS, ADULT PROBATION, JUVENILE PROBATION, FELONY DISPOSITIONS, STATEWIDE CRIMINAL JUSTICE EXPENDITURES, NUMBERS OF FULL-TIME PERSONNEL, AND PERSONS UNDER LOCAL SUPERVISION. THE SECOND SECTION CONTAINS DETAILED REFERENCE TABLES GIVING BREAKDOWNS OF ARREST DATA FOR 1977 BY AGE, SEX, RACE, AND COUNTY; EXAMINES DISPOSITIONS, LISTS CASES UNDER APPEAL, AND GIVES DETAILED INMATE STATISTICS.
