STATISTICS INDICATING CASELOAD MOVEMENT FROM INITIAL COURT COMMITMENT THROUGH INSTITUTIONAL ADMISSION, PAROLE, AND EVENTUAL DISCHARGE.
Abstract
FROM 1971 TO 1972 THE PERCENT OF WARDS UNDER COMMITMENT TO THE CALIFORNIA YOUTH AUTHORITY, OVERALL REFERRALS, FIRST ADMISSIONS, FIRST COMMITMENTS, AND PAROLE VIOLATIONS DECREASED. DATA SHOW THAT AT THE END OF 1972 THE TOTAL INSTITUTIONAL POPULATION AND TOTAL PAROLE CASELOAD WERE DOWN. BETWEEN 1971 AND 1972, THE LENGTH OF INSTITUTIONAL STAY FOR WARDS DECREASED IN YOUTH AUTHORITY INSTITUTIONS, AND DIFFERED WITH RESPECT TO SEX IN BOYS AND GIRLS SCHOOLS. (AUTHOR ABSTRACTED)
