CONCLUSIONS REACHED AND RECOMMENDATIONS MADE AFTER A TWO-YEAR STUDY OF FEASIBILITY OF EMPLOYING HIGHWAY PATROLWOMEN.
Abstract
FINDINGS INDICATE THAT ALTHOUGH THE COST OF RECRUITING, TRAINING, AND MAINTAINING A WOMAN AS A STATE TRAFFIC OFFICER IS HIGHER THAN FOR A MAN; IT IS NOT PROHIBITIVE, AND COSTS CAN BE REDUCED BY IMPROVED SELECTION AND TRAINING. THE ISSUE OF MALE AND FEMALE COMPARATIVE PHYSICAL STRENGTH WAS NOT RESOLVED, SO FURTHER RESEARCH WAS RECOMMENDED. CORRELATIONS OF ACADEMY GRADES, BACKGROUND CHARACTERISTICS, AND PERFORMANCE RATINGS REVEALED THE GENERAL CONCLUSION THAT THE EMPLOYMENT OF WOMEN AS STATE TRAFFIC OFFICERS IS FEASIBLE.
