At the end of 1994, the CDC population totaled 238,227. The institution population numbered 125,605, a 4.7-percent increase over 1993. Also at the end of 1994, there were 89,609 felons and civil narcotic addicts on parole in California, a 4.3-percent increase over 1993, and there were 41,580 felon new admissions to CDC institutions during 1994. The bed design capacity of CDC institutions and camps was 68,366 at the end of 1994, 175.3 percent over design capacity. Tables and figures
