This slide and tape presentation for older persons presents tips on how to serve effectively as a courtroom witness.
Abstract
In a dramatized examination of a witness, the audience is familiarized with the strategies of attorneys and the types of information they request both before and during trial. Witnesses are advised to visit a local court prior to their appearance to see what a trial is like, remember to bring the subpoena or summons to the trial, and to dress with restraint. In addition, they are counseled to state clearly what they know without trying to fill in memory gaps, hold their tempers, and avoid talking with other witnesses about the case. Included with the program are a list of equipment needed for a presentation, tips on the operation of a 35mm slide projector, a sample news release, a discussion guide for program moderators, and a typed script of the taped narrative.
