Abstract
This book discusses the legal, social, and policy contexts of crime on college campuses. The issues discussed in the book are divided into three primary sections, and include updates on advancements that have occurred in understanding campus crime and efforts to effectively address campus security issues. The five chapters of the first section examine the Jeanne Clery Act; research on the Clery Act and crime reporting; reporting sexual assault and the Clery Act; decriminalizing campus institutional responses to peer sexual violence; and State-level Clery Act initiatives. The topics covered in the six chapters of section II include violent victimization of college students; the routine activities and criminal victimization of college students; the role of alcohol abuse in college student victimization; violence against women on college campuses; the extent, nature, and impact of stalking and cyberstalking; and the spatial aspects of crime on college campuses. The four chapters of the third section cover the evolution of campus policing; community-oriented policing on college campuses; policing alcohol-related crime among college students; and high-tech abuse and crime on college and university campuses.
