Abstract
Enormous profits from drug trafficking and technological advances in communications and logistic systems will prompt the traffickers to increase further the illicit supply of and demand for drugs. This can be reduced only by concurrent implementation of both stringent drug law enforcement measures and programs for the prevention of drug abuse and for the treatment and rehabilitation of drug addicted persons. A need to develop innovative approaches to prevention and treatment and better methods for evaluating treatment programs are suggested. 26 references. (Author abstract modified)
